Introduction to Causal Pathways and Fault Characterisation Framework.

Basin development and the use of sequence stratigraphy to define aquifers and aquitards.

Introduction to fault anatomy (Core workshop).

Outcrop Mount Alexandra Mittagong;

Introduction to the Sydney Basin Stratigraphy.

Permian coal and volcanic outcrops.

Tuesday Day 2

Features Events Processes.

Structural styles, including faulting and fracturing processes.

Fracture and matrix flow (Core workshop).

Outcrop Tahmoor / Hume Highway;

Faults and fold outcrops in Hawkesbury sandstone.

Fault and fold outcrops in Wianamatta marine shale.

Wednesday Day 3

Groundwater-dependent ecosystems.

Geologic and geophysical investigations.

Fault architecture and kinematics for x-section construction.

Outcrop Meryla State Forest (BBQ Lunch);

Permian Triassic transect.

Wongawilli coal seams and groundwater interaction.

Groundwater dependant ecosystems associated the coal seam.

Thursday Day 4

Drawing geologic sections and maps.

Case 2 studies reviewing projects in the public domain.

Outcrop Wombian Caves Road;

Permian Triassic transect.

Faulting in aquifers and aquitards.

Friday, Day 5 (optional leave from Penrose or come back to hotel)

Case 2 studies reviewing projects in the public domain.

How to build a research project based on the Carmichael Rewan Research program.

Outcrop Stingray Swamp Penrose State Forest (BBQ Lunch);

Berry Siltstone aquitard.
